At New England Remediation Services we are all about providing a complete solution to restoring a sick home to better condition than we found it. Once we have removed the mold with our dry ice blasting machine, it is 99% gone.
However, mold – being a plant – can potentially regrow if conditions are favorable. What we do in the rebuild process can inhibit mold re-growth forever.
Building envelope. Mold loves moisture. Fiberglass batt insulation can absorb moisture; however, spray foam does not. After the mold remediation process is complete, spray foam permanently seals the area ensuring that it does not take on any additional moisture that will regrow mold.
Attics. In the attic, a 1 inch layer of spray foam applied above the sheet rock (instead of batt or blown-in cellulose insulation) prevents condensation buildup in an attic cold space because it provides an airtight seal between the cold attic and warm living space below.
Crawlspaces. Spray foam can be used effectively to prevent odors and drafts in seasonal camps and older homes that have crawlspaces underneath the floor. This provides an airtight membrane between dirt and living space – making it easier to ventilate beneath the floor without affecting the living space above.
NERS is a construction company too! At New England Remediation Services, we don’t just remediate mold – we also provide building and restoration services. Because of this, we are also excited about the other benefits that spray foam insulation offers:
